Emergency Preparedness

72hr kits: Here is the link to the list of items you should have in your 72hr kit. Please read through the list and identify the items you already have on hand. These should be gathered and stored in your kit. The items you are missing should be obtained, as you are able. Remember that food, water, and heat should be first priority.

Week 1:

Remember the Rules:

- $5.00 or 5 items

- Store what you eat. Eat what you store.

Food Storage: Meat/Protein

There are several options when it comes to protein. Remember, you will have to eat it, so choose options that you are familiar with. If, for instance, you choose to store beans, I would recommend canned beans as opposed to dried. Canned require far less preparation, and are more likely to get used. And they make a great taco soup! The key is easy to store, easy to use.

Examples:

- canned fish, chicken, sausages, etc.

- dried (jerkey)

- Peanut Butter

- Stuff Posing As Meat (SPAM)

- Beans

- Nuts
