Service Opportunity: Blood Drive
With Halloween just around the corner, we need to stock up the blood bank because you never know what might happen. :) Seriously though, we need the blood for patients. Your blood could go to a sick child, an accident victim or a surgery patient. You know someone who has needed blood at some point. Come donate and make a difference. This is being conducted by the American Red Cross.
Please join us this Thursday, October 9, 2008 to donate anytime between 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Ward Building at 4601 South 2565 East. We were not able to get people signed up for separate time slots which helps prevent major lines. If your schedule permits you to donate between 3:00- 6:00 when many are still at work, that would be extremely helpful. If not, we'll take you anytime your schedule does permit.
Some of you have given blood before but many of you haven't, so I thought I would share some of the basic guidelines.
BASIC BLOOD DONOR REQUIREMENTS:
Donor must weigh at least 110 lbs.
Donor must be at least 17 years of age - this should not be a problem for most of us
Donor must be in general good health (if you have questions about your health and being a donor call 1-800-717-0902)
Donor must not have donated blood in the last 56 days
I.D. will be required at the blood drive
If you have a question about whether you can be a donor - Call the Donor Health Counselors at 1-800-717-0902.
If you can't give blood but would like to help volunteer this Thursday, please give Sarah White a call at 801-362-9699 - we need set-up members, receptionist/greeters, refreshment host/hostess - (that's right), & take-down members.
So if you can't donate blood - come donate your time - we would LOVE to have you.

On Friday at 8pm, there's the option to go to Pickleville Playhouse, for a melodrama, Chuck Wagon's Wild West Showdown. It's supposed to be a fun show. The ward has 50 tickets reserved. The cost of the show is $16, and the ward will pick up $6 if you pay $10. To reserve one of these tickets, you need to pay $10 by Sunday to Adam or MacKenzi. The tickets that are unspoken for will be canceled on Monday. If you want to go but aren't going to be around for Sunday, let Adam know so he can keep a ticket. If money is an issue but you'd still like to go, talk to a member of the bishopric and we'll make arrangements.
It should be a fun trip, with hiking, biking, watersports, golf, dutch oven cooking, beach BBQ, games, raspberries, milkshakes, and Adam DeMill!
Call Adam with questions 801-558-6647. Email holladay11th@gmail.com for a copy of the flyer.
