Ward Ski Day Jan. 2nd

11th Ward Ski Bros/Snow Bunnies-

A little information for the Saturday ski day:

Chairlifts open at 9:00am with the exception of First Time which opens at 8:45am.

Recommended place to park is the First Time parking lot because it is less crowded than the main resort parking lot and you can just jump on the First Time lift without having to walk through the plaza.  Being still in the holiday period, you may want to get there a little early to avoid crowds that might be there.

Fastest way up the mountain is First Time and ski down to Crescent chairlift instead of Payday.  Crescent high-speed quad is the newest lift there-less people use it and gets you higher on the mountain than Payday.

The tickets that I handed out are "live" passes so you don't need to stand in line to get a ticket just grab a plastic thing at the ticket window to attach it to your coat.
Whoever wants to meet for lunch at 11:30, the restaurant is Mid-Mountain Lodge in the McConkey's/Pioneer chairlift area.

Lots of 11th warders will be up there and it should be a good time!  If you missed out on this one or want to go again, the next ski day will be January 16th, and your $25 is due by FHE on Monday, January 4th.

See you up there!

Adam

P.S. Night skiing is included with these tickets and goes until 7:30pm on Payday and First Time lifts.

Relief Society Activity: Thursday, December 10

Just a little heads up...Relief Society Activity (aka Enrichment) this upcoming Thursday! We will be decorating cookies and enjoying each others company! Please try to set aside the time to get to know more of the sisters in the ward and do some service together! It's a great way to spread some Christmas cheer (and prepare for VT visits or secret santa doorbell ditching)! Spread the word to your friends in the ward! - Maren Jensen

YSA Sports: Kickball

First off, we want to congratulate Canyon Rim 5th ward and Winder West 14th ward who WON the soccer tournament!!! They are now the proud holders of "the rock" trophy and team treat bags - the next ward to win softball will take over this treasure...!

And now....for the big announcement...

THIS IS THE SPORT YOU HAVE BEEN WAITING TO PLAY!!!

YSA COED KICKBALL

Starts next Wednesday, July 22nd at 7:30 on the same field where we played soccer (2700 East 4500 South).

Remember those days of elementary kickball?!? Well...this is going to be even BIGGER AND BETTER - mainly because you're a lot bigger and better!

This is more "unstructured" than the soccer league (more like dodgeball)- you don't need a team to participate - just show up and we will put you on teams, and at the end of the night - there will be the "championship game" with everyone.

This activity will be EVERY WEDNESDAY for the next 6 weeks (and then softball).

Please let us know if you have any questions. We appreciate everyone's help and dedication to making the YSA sports a success.

YSA Sports - Soccer

YSA CO-ED SOCCER TOURNAMENT STARTS THIS UPCOMING WEDNESDAY (May 27th)!!!!

This tournament will be both guys and girls playing on the same team at the same time (not like basketball where it was separated). Each game will be an hour long. We decided to combine all wards with another ward. If you tend to be a smaller ward and have less people show up, we combined you with a bigger ward (and your ward gets to meet and play with new people - YEAH!)

The schedule is linked here.

The field is located at the Olympus Stake Center on 4500 South and 2700 East - you can't miss it! PLEASE ADVERTISE THIS IN YOUR WARD ON SUNDAY!!! Send out emails!
The trophy passing will be involved in this sport - let's see who gets the bragging rights!

Choir Rehearsals

Choir Rehearsals:
Sunday May 24th 11:30-12:30 in the Multi-purpose room (maybe it's the young women's room now, but it's the big room just east of the Relief Society room) in the Stake Center. The 3rd ward should be in Sacrament meeting at that time, and we should have no conflicts.
Sunday May 31st 11:30-12:30 in the same room - and then moving into the chapel as the first session of StakeConference exits. They end their session at noon that day.

Singing at General Conference

11th warders:

We have been assigned by Elder Renlund of the Seventy to sing in the free speech zones at General Conference Saturday and Sunday. The assignment was for 10 men and 10 women each day and the list of people that signed up has been emailed out. Please e-mail me back at demilladam@hotmail.com or call me at 801-558-6647 if you cannot make it. There are just a few parking passes for each day, so please carpool. Those on this list have Conference tickets reserved (they could only guarantee us 20 total) so we will go to the session after our singing. Anyone not already on this list is welcome to come down and help in the choir, just call the person in charge on the day to let them know you are coming.

Saturday April 4th

Training is from 7:30am-8:00am in the north Visitors Center Theatre #3 on Temple Square.
Singing is from 8:00am-10:00am in the free speech zones assigned.
Mark Greenwood is going to head up the group this day, so call him at 801-707-8547
with any questions.

Sunday April 5th

We are meeting at the ward at 10:15am to carpool and go down there.
Training is from 11:00am-11:30am in the north Visitors Center Theatre #3 on Temple Square
Singing is from 11:30am-2:00pm in the free speech zones assigned.
Call Adam DeMill at 801-558-6647 with any questions.

*****One side note while I'm doing this e-mail..I picked up the tickets for the Ward Ski Day on April 11th, so since we don't have church Sunday give me a call if you bought any and I can arrange to get them to you. They are live tickets good until the end of the season (April 12th) so if you can't go on the 11th, you can use them any other day.

Thanks!

Ski Day 2

Ski bros and ski bunnies-

Looks like quite the day shaping up for Saturday with a foot of snow falling last night at Park City and more forecasted for Friday night before the sun comes out Saturday. http://www.parkcitymountain.com/winter/conditions/snow_report/report.html

We're setting a meeting time for 8:15am at the ward to go up if people want to carpool but last time most just went up whenever they wanted. These tickets are good for both day and night skiing (9:00am-7:30pm) so prepare for a marathon. I think the best place to park is the lower parking lot right next to First Time chairlift because it is less crowded and First Time opens at 8:45am. The meeting spot for lunch is Mid-Mountain Lodge (Pioneer chairlift area) at 1:00 just like last time.

For those who are interested in a high adventure and working up an appetite for lunch, we are going to hike Jupiter Peak, which takes about 25-30 minutes and climbs 300 vertical feet (9,700ft.-10,000ft.). For this meet at the top of McConkey's chairlift at 11:30am. Here's a picture of the peak, with incredible 360 degree views at the top.

Ward Ski Day 1 we had 76 people and this one we are 117 strong so we will be representing well up there. Ward Ski Day 3 will be tentatively April 11th so keep that in mind.
One more thing: I have had interest expressed to me about people wanting to go up again next Saturday March 14th. We need to get at least 15 people to get the $25 rate so if you want to go up, e-mail me back at demilladam@hotmail.com. Any questions give me a call at 801-558-6647.

See you up there

Adam
