This Week's Preparedness Items:

Remember the Rules:

- 5 items or $5.00
- Store what you eat. Eat what you store.

Home Storage: Grain
This should be a grain you know how to cook with and does not require grinding or major preparation before it can be used. Use your normal diet as a guide.

 Examples:
 - flour
 - corn meal
 - rolled oats

72hr Kit: Heat/Fire

A small fire can keep you warm, and allow you to cook food. Although a fire may not always be a good idea, it's always good to have the option. Also, having non-fire heat sources will allow you to keep warm when a fire is not an option.

Examples:
 - waterproof matches
 - flint/steel
 - shreds of newspaper (for a fire starter)
 - handwarmers or similar
 - solar blanket (keep in mind the mylar does not breath, so you may get too hot, then cold. Use with care.)
 - fuel pellets for cooking small meals
